Just Gone

not just one, not just two, but a million and one gather around you
not just me, not just him or her, but a battalion, an army, loves you
a day in your life, and night in your dreams, all cool and sweet
just one more hour, one more day, propels you down the street
you stumble, you step, you make your feet to meet the sun
you sleep, you wake, you choose yourself to walk, to run
you’re gone, no more steps
no more dreams, you slept
just gone
no more me
no more we
no more you
not even a few
not one

Falling

Tired but cannot sleep
scrambled thoughts invade my mind
night becoming day

The past cannot stay
faster now, you run away
falling in the dark

The bell starts to peal
held suspended in our dreams
which one is real

Time elevates time
to sleep, a train whistles sleep
slumber into deep

Empty nights without dreams of you
Pain flies as I see your face in the clouds
Empty days when thoughts of you are blown away

Where Do You Lie

IMG_1396.JPG
Photograph by Emma Thompson (granddaughter)

The blue was pink, then orange, then grey
an evening fought for time of day
Where have you gone, where do you lie?
Across the miles, with the clouds in the sky

Aidan Turner, Only Human

His Eyes
Golden amber, glisten like shimmering pools of diamonds touched by magic
showing love, joy, happy anticipation
then withdrawn with quiet contemplation
showing anger, his thirst, his raucous rebellion
a lust for life, the twinkle of a star, one in a million.
Come back to me, come back to love; heart stopping, pounding, where the tongue was dipped into a revitalizing supping nectar, a full bodied sweetness. My pulse was yours, and yours mine, where love cleaved with passion and eagerness.
Counter the wronged now, remove the towel, wipe the brow
words yet to be said, bandage that from which life has bled

Another sleepless night

Sleepless night...oh, sleepless night...I toss and I turn, I turn on the light. Visions of waves, visions of flowers, visions of sonnets swim, swim, swim, invading my mind with a cascade of showers.

My heart beats, oh, how it beats, missing the tempo, skipping sleep. Thunderstorms in dreams, where noise clammers and shines its beams....turn out the light, my mind wants to pray, but then there is one more word I have to say.

I close my eyes, there you are again, words drowning out words, again and again. Being accepted into the dark, now closing my eyes as the sun raises the mark.

Sail Away

Photograph by Ele Kittl

The sea crackles and snaps to attention; the sea of glass breaks in a thousand pieces across the bow this day in time...sail away, sail away, sail away one last time. A single winged gull catches the surf; throws his head back and cries, sail away, sail away, sail away, this time is mine!

My Haiku For You ~ Sleep Music

eyes alert will see
voices whisper in the dark
deep silence waiting

sleep hums beside us
turning once, turning again

the music of night

My Haiku For You~Words of Love

on the eve of love
a threshold to cross over
embrace the moment

evermore

my hand in your hand
steps to take along the path
to be met halfway

forevermore

My Haiku for you ~ The Night Scent

flowers soak warm sun
night will bring its scented air
listen on the breeze

calling you to bed
inhale and sleep lovely scents
all is well tonight

Blank

my mind goes blank tonight
I want to write, but I draw a blank
how many ways can you write about love?
comparisons, analogies, metaphorical, mind bending
I've twisted it, curved it, craved it, shaved it, tossed it away
and yet it continues to walk toward me, on me, leaving its marks
one sentence, a completion of your existence, one small proof
you tossed me a word, and I wanted the entire sentence
a thought, one tiny thought is all I longed for, hoped for
you threw me a crumb, and I craved the whole loaf

My Haiku For You~"Gesundheit"

flowers, weeds and things
heavy is the pollen now
sneezing bees, haachoo!

surf is up today!
but feeling down all-around
can’t go out to play!

summer colds abound
tissues used beyond the norm
resting is the plan

My Love and I

Time passes, my love
Time and time again, my love seeks to reinvent, to find its meaning in the losses of years passed
Time passes, my love
Time travels at warp speed, longing to see, yearning to believe in a future with you again
Time passes, my love
hold on fast, time travelers are the driving force behind the wheel of destiny’s heartbeat
Time passes, my love
Lean into the sun’s rays, lean against the shoulder of strength and forgiveness
Don’t hesitate
Time passes my love
Live your fate

My Haiku(s) For You~ Confection

the mind holds so much fear, give your heart up
looking high and low
I have a dream of you dear
deep and near to my heart

loving lifts you up
a smile each day to give away
kindness and caring

chocolate chips melting
hot sun sweetened confection
lips bursting with love

nocturnal ramblings
suddenly September blooms
lost in heady sweets

Mourn

sick of this earth
sick of its death
down comes the rain
down comes its mirth

thunderous moments, evening sky
down comes the rain
don’t let me cry

tortured with grief, lie after lie
don’t let me mourn
don’t let me die

Can I Love You?

You were my friend, both night and day
You left
I left
Without a word
Neither could stay

Love came to you
I loved you too
I want out
Let me out
Take me away
Far, far away

Better to have loved
No
To die alone
Yes
To grieve
No

Death comes to all who have loved and lost
Can I love you?
Stay away
Let me die
Die

The stench overpowers, overbears, stiffens the mind with repugnant dreams.
Hurt fills the room, it smothers, it strangles, it stifles the air with pungent memories.  Memories, sweet memories.  How I loved, in those memories.

Summer is Here

Peonies photographed by Angelique Manchanda-Peres

this is the summer for peonies
delicate centers like tiny beads
colors sparkle in evening rain
song birds sing to an evening train
winter frost and icicles gone
summertime, green is the lawn
beach shore calls, friends rush to play
beautiful castles, waves topple away
kids wiggle their toes is the warming sand
then jump to run to the popsicle man
climbing trees and reading books
hide and seek, finding nooks
flying kites  and red balloons
hiking mountains and watching loons
prairie grasses and mud pie making
it’s summertime, fun for the taking

My Haiku for You~ Lonely Tear

Tear splashes tonight
anger, hurt, crying baby
guns killing again

Again and again
stop the evil, Lord, this day
beseech heavens, turn around

Look, the cost is death
pray for peace, all day and night
grant sorrow to end

The Seabirds Fly

June 18, 2015 - San Bernardino National Forest
View from Palm Springs, Calif.  Photography:Reuters/Sam Mircovich

the air is thick with smoke
encumbered by the spray of resined goo
the seabirds challenge their wings
burning lungs and breath will choke
first one then two
the flights are low, then higher they sing
breezes change, seabirds remove your cloak
out to sea to grasp the clouds, time to renew

Iceland, A Landscaped Story

Stark, stunning, striking and remote, an achingly beautiful scene of serenity within the eerie nature of landscapes;  profound in our words, as a living being waiting to be born.

Unique fields of grasses of greens and browns, dotted with rare sprays of wildflowers, showing off in front of a background of white ice-capped mountains and glaciers; only to be here.

Night falls into a bleak yet profound and majestic melancholy.  How many ways can you describe such haunting music to be heard from this rapture in nature?

Most of these descriptive words were used by the people (friends of Angelique) who viewed her pictures. I was simply possessed when I read them all, I had to put them into sentence form.

Angelique's view of nature, as you can see in her photographs of landscapes, flowers and people, are all beautiful in her eyes, and we are privileged to be a witness to this grace. Thank you, again, Angelique, for allowing me to show-off your world in pictures.
